about
While recording the Wakefield Sessions last year, we were introduced to Nikki E. Taylor a.k.a. That Nikki You Know. Nikki brought a special magic to the session and is the songwriter behind Black & White Pictures off that EP.
We continued to work together and were fortunate enough to have recorded their song, Silence, just before the pandemic. A year later, this song remains a piercing reminder of the volumes that are said when you say nothing at all.
Originally written to be performed alongside Canadian poets, Fannon Holland and Beth Anne Ellipsis at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, Silence now lives and breathes as its own entity of poetic beauty awash in cello and harmony.
Silence was recorded at Sud-Ouest Recording Service in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and is That Nikki You Know's first release with Baby Horse records. For that, we are very grateful!

lyrics
Don’t fill every moment / With the words that you wanted to say /
Just say nothing at all /
Don’t fill up the spaces /
Between our faces and don’t act like this /
Is nothing at all /
And the noises you made / When you were digging your grave /
Bled through /
And the moment you left / The silence /
It pierced the room /
So hold on to your silence / Hold on /
Hold on to your silence / Hold on /
Don’t wake every-morning / With the ache you’ve been storing /
And don’t act like you feel / Nothing at all
Don’t wait every night / For the love that you might / Give /
Cause you won’t give / Me nothing at all /
And the choices you made forced my childish charades to stop /
And the sound that I heard when you packed up your words /
Was soft /
So hold on to your silence / Hold on /
Hold on to your silence / Hold on /
And the noise that you made /
You you were digging your grave / Bled through /
And the moment you left / The silence /
It pierced the room /
So hold on /
Hold on /
